EMERGENCY TOWING
24/7 dispatch. Real dispatcher on every call. Light to heavy duty — we roll whatever the job needs.
WHEN YOU CALL AT 2AM, A HUMAN ANSWERS
Emergencies don’t wait for business hours. Neither do we. Smith Towing & Recovery dispatches 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from our facility in Crosby, Texas. No voicemail, no answering service, no call center — our own dispatcher picks up every call.
From a stranded sedan on I-10 to a jackknifed semi on SH-146, our fleet ranges from Jerr-Dan flatbeds to a Peterbilt rotator wrecker. Whatever rolled off the road, we have the right truck for it.
Typical response: 15 minutes in Crosby, 20–40 minutes across greater Houston. Every job is quoted upfront and insurance-ready.

ACCIDENT & POST-COLLISION TOWING
A wreck is the worst time to be put on hold. When you call after a collision on I-10, US-59 / I-69, or Beltway 8, a real dispatcher answers, gets your location and what you’re driving, and rolls the right truck — a flatbed for a disabled car or our heavy wrecker if a rig is involved. We load damaged vehicles that won’t roll or steer, sweep up what we safely can, and get the scene cleared so traffic moves and you’re out of harm’s way. We work with police and your insurance, and every job is quoted up front before the truck rolls.
NIGHT, WEEKEND & HOLIDAY DISPATCH
Breakdowns don’t check the calendar, so neither do we. Smith Towing & Recovery has run 24/7/365 since 2001, and overnight and holiday calls reach the same dispatcher and the same trucks as a Tuesday afternoon — no after-hours answering service, no “we open at 8.” Christmas morning, 3AM on a Sunday, the middle of a holiday weekend: a human picks up and a truck is on the way. That round-the-clock coverage is the whole point of an emergency tow, and we treat it that way.
HIGHWAY & FREEWAY BREAKDOWNS
Being stranded in a live lane on a Houston freeway is dangerous, and getting you off the road fast is the first job. We respond to breakdowns on I-10, US-59 / I-69, I-45, I-610, Beltway 8, SH-99 (Grand Parkway), SH-225, and SH-146, day or night. Pull as far onto the shoulder as you safely can, get everyone behind the guardrail and away from traffic, and leave your hazards on. Then call and give us the nearest exit or mile marker so we can reach you quickly. We’ll give you a straight ETA on the call.
HEAVY-DUTY EMERGENCIES & ROLLOVERS
Some emergencies are too big for a wheel-lift. When a loaded tractor-trailer jackknifes, a tanker tips at a plant gate, or a bus or RV goes off the shoulder, we roll heavy — our 35-ton heavy wrecker and 50- and 75-ton rotators handle recoveries up to 80,000 lbs. That means rollover uprighting, off-road extraction, and load shifts with a rigging plan matched to the angle and the terrain, not brute force that adds damage. Our operators are TWIC certified, so plant and Ship Channel emergencies behind the gate are routine work for us, not a special request.
RECOVERY & WINCH-OUT, INCLUDED
Plenty of emergency calls aren’t a clean tow. The vehicle is in a ditch, buried in mud, or down an embankment, especially after a hard Houston rain. We bring the cable, the angles, and the anchor points to winch light, medium, and heavy vehicles back onto solid ground without tearing up the drivetrain or the body, then load and transport from there. Recovery and winch-out aren’t a separate company you have to call. They roll on the same truck, on the same dispatch.
INSURANCE BILLING & UPFRONT PRICING
An emergency shouldn’t come with a surprise invoice. We quote the job up front before the truck rolls and keep our paperwork insurance-ready, with itemized invoices and the documentation a claim or a roadside-assistance reimbursement needs. Fleet and commercial accounts can run on Net-30. We take Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, cash, Cash App, Venmo, and Zelle, so however you need to settle up at the scene or after, we’ve got it covered.
WHAT TO DO WHILE YOU WAIT FOR THE TOW
Once the truck is dispatched, your job is to stay safe. If you can, move the vehicle out of the traffic lane and onto the shoulder; if it won’t move, leave it and get everyone out on the side away from traffic, behind a guardrail or barrier if there is one. Turn on your hazard lights, and set out flares or a reflective triangle if you have them and it’s safe to do so. Stay off the roadway, keep your phone on for the driver’s callback, and have your keys and license ready. If anyone is injured or the scene is blocking traffic, call 911 first — then call us.
ONE CALL FOR EVERY DUTY CLASS
The advantage of a full-fleet operator is that you don’t have to know what size truck you need. Just call. From the same dispatch we roll light-duty roadside assistance for a jumpstart, flat, or lockout, flatbed light-duty towing for cars and trucks, recovery and winch-out for vehicles off the road, heavy-duty towing with our 35-ton wrecker and 50- and 75-ton rotators, semi truck towing for Class 8 rigs, and industrial plant service behind the gate. One number — (832) 360-7122 — covers the whole range, 24/7.
