TRUCK DIAGNOSTICS
All-makes heavy diesel — we scan the codes, find the real fault, and tell you what the truck needs before you spend a dollar on parts or a tow.
KNOW WHAT’S WRONG BEFORE YOU COMMIT
A heavy truck that throws a warning light or drops into a derate doesn’t tell you what it needs — only that something’s wrong. The gap between a $200 sensor and a $6,000 mistake is an accurate diagnosis first. At our Crosby diesel shop we scan the truck, pull the active and stored fault codes, test the actual components, and tell you what’s really going on before anyone turns a wrench or hooks a chain.
We read the whole truck — not just the dash light. Engine, aftertreatment, brakes and air, and the electronic systems that tie them together, across all-makes heavy diesel: Cummins, Detroit, Paccar, and the rest. You get a straight answer and a price before the work starts, not a surprise after.
It’s the front end of everything we do: diagnose the truck accurately before we replace a part or write an estimate. When we recover a rig off the highway, it comes straight to our own Crosby shop for the same honest workup — so you’re never paying to replace something that isn’t broken.
WHAT WE DIAGNOSE

- DPF, DEF & SCR aftertreatment faults
- Regeneration (regen) fault diagnosis
- Hard-start & no-start diagnosis

WHY AN ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS COMES FIRST
The fastest way to waste money on a truck is to start replacing parts before anyone knows what’s actually wrong. A dash light or a fault code is a symptom, not a diagnosis — the same code can point at a sensor, a wiring problem, or the component the sensor is watching. Guess wrong and you’ve bought a part the truck didn’t need and the problem is still there.
We do it the other way around. We pull the active and stored codes, look at the live data, and test the actual components to find the real cause before we quote a repair. You get a straight answer and a price up front — so the money you spend fixes the truck the first time instead of chasing the fault around the shop.
READING THE WHOLE TRUCK, NOT JUST THE DASH
A modern Class 8 rig is a network of computers — engine, transmission, brakes and ABS, and the aftertreatment system — all talking to each other. A problem in one shows up as a warning somewhere else, so reading a single code in isolation misses the real story. We scan across the truck’s systems and connect the codes to what the truck is actually doing.
That means we catch the difference between a genuine engine fault and a sensor lying about one, between a brake problem and the air-supply problem feeding it, between a truck that needs a repair and one that needs a good cleaning and a reset. The diagnosis is the product — the repair is just executing on it.
DERATE, DPF & AFTERTREATMENT DIAGNOSIS
A huge share of heavy-truck downtime traces back to the aftertreatment system — the DPF, the DEF and SCR side, and the regeneration cycle that keeps them clean. When a truck drops into a derate, throws a DEF warning, or won’t finish a regen, the codes rarely point straight at the cause. We diagnose the whole chain — soot loading, DEF quality and level, the sensors, and the regen logic — to find what’s really driving the fault.
Our emissions work is focused on one thing: getting the system working the way it’s supposed to, so the truck runs clean and passes inspection. We diagnose the fault, service or clean the DPF, and clear the underlying problem — the honest fix that keeps the rig compliant and on the road.
DIAGNOSE, THEN FIX IT UNDER ONE ROOF
A diagnosis is only useful if someone can act on it. Our Crosby facility has a full on-site diesel shop with an indoor overhead crane, so once we know what the truck needs we can do the work — engine, transmission, brakes and air, welding and fabrication — without a second shop or a second tow. If the rig came in on the back of our wrecker, it’s already where it needs to be. Our semi truck repair page covers the full shop.
For fleets that means one vendor from the breakdown call through the diagnosis and the repair, priority scheduling, and net-30 billing, with a real dispatcher answering 24/7/365. For an owner-operator it means a straight diagnosis and a price before the work starts — from a shop that’s run towing, recovery, and truck repair out of Crosby since 2001.
